• Dodgeball Success

  Following the success of the girls football team, our Y5/6 dodgeball team also reached the County Finals held earlier in the week. A 6th place finish in Leicestershire & Rutland is something to be incredibly proud of.

  

• Winning Girls Football Team

  PRESS RELEASE

  Redmile CE Primary school came out on top in the Melton & Belvoir Primary Schools Girls Football Tournament held at Asfordby Amateurs.

   

  The year 5/6 competition saw 11 schools take part in the well-organised event. Redmile battled to a 0-0 draw in their opening group match against Bottesford before winning their remaining 3 matches to top the group, conceding just 1 goal. Next up were the semi-finals where they defeated Brownlow 1-0. The final saw an extremely tight re-match with Bottesford. Both teams gave their all but with the score line 0-0 after extra-time it was down to a penalty shootout to separate the two sides.

   

  Redmiles’ ability to stay calm and resilient saw them across the finishing line. Redmile qualified to represent Melton & Belvoir at the Danone Schools Football Finals later in November. 

   

  Mrs Hopkins, Executive Head teacher, said “I am thrilled that our team has done so well; I am extremely proud of them and very grateful to all the organisers and sports teachers who have made this opportunity to compete possible. The covid pandemic put a complete halt to all competitive inter-school sports last year (except virtual ones!) so for our children to be getting out of school to participate in active sports once again with other schools is simply the best!”

  

• 2021 Viking Challenge a Huge Success

  It came...it went...we conquered! Thank you to all our volunteers, including staff and parents who helped in the preparations and on the day of the event.  We welcomed over 600 cyclists (restricted numbers due to covid H&S this year) who braved the muddy conditions and who had a great day. • Strictly Come Dancing Star Visits Redmile

  Press release: Former Strictly star inspires pupils to keeeeep dancing!  

   

  As the new series of Strictly Come Dancing begins, lucky pupils from four village primary schools in the Vale of Belvoir have been inspired to ‘Keep dancing!’ by a former Strictly star.   

  
  Robin Windsor, a professional dancer who previously partnered with Deborah Meaden, Patsy Kensit and Lisa Reilly on the BBC One award-winning programme, has run a series of dance lessons this week for children at: Waltham-on-the-Wolds CE Primary School, Wymondham CE Primary School, Redmile CE Primary School and Croxton Kerrial CE Primary School.

    

  For the children who attend the schools, which are all part of the Rise Multi-Academy Trust, this was a unique opportunity to learn from an accomplished professional dancer, to enhance their passion for dancing and to keep active throughout their lives.   

   

  Robin Windsor, professional dancer and former Strictly Coming Dancing star, said: It has been an absolutely amazing couple of days. It's such a rewarding experience, because you get to see the children light up, they learn something new and their confidence builds throughout the day. 

  
  "I think dancing should be compulsory in schools, there are so many positive benefits!" 

   

  Julie Hopkins, Executive Headteacher of all four schools, said: “The children were absolutely delighted to take part in a dance lesson with Robin. Many of them have watched Strictly Come Dancing over the years and some have gone to the arena tours, so to learn from one of the former professionals in person is just so thrilling for them.  

   

  “We already have a strong commitment to dance in our schools, as our specialist dance teacher, Cheryl Lobo, has been inspiring our children for many years. We are passionate about the many benefits to dancing; not only is it an incredible skill in its own right, but the fun and laughter is good for health and well-being. It promotes fitness and supports long-term memory, plus, it is a great opportunity to create lasting memories with friends and family.”

• 150th Anniversary Mural finished

  Local artist Lindsay Thompson has finished her stunning mural on the wall of our school hall. She says:

  "I was delighted when I was approached by Alison, the head teacher of Redmile Primary School to design and paint an exterior mural to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the school. Initially, I created a conceptual design and we soon agreed on the final concept and design and then the painting began. Wild animals were extremely important to the design, so a fox, a hare, red kites (which are locally found), a tawny owl and some smaller creatures starred in the piece. The Sun setting behind the unmistakable Redmile Spire during a warm summer's evening."

  An end of an era, as our amazing Year 6's leave Redmile to begin the next phase of their educational journey. We have loved sharing their lives over the years and couldn't be any prouder of them. We wish them good luck, good health and pray that they continue to be as happy throughout their lives as they have been with us at Primary School. Special thanks to Mr Cope for helping them with their Leavers Service and for the wonderful tributes and memories shared with us all. 

  Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.
