“Teach children how they should live, and they will remember it all their lives.” (Proverbs 22:6)

Enabling children to flourish and succeed

Our Church

St Peter's Church, Redmile

St Peter's Church in Redmile was completed during the 12th Century. The first Rector of the Church is recorded in 1220. It stands proud at the North end of the village.

St Peter's is part of the group of churches collectively known as the 'Vale of Belvoir Churches' within the Diocese of Leicester which is part of the Church of England.

The children at Redmile School have made use of the Church for many varied events, whether it be school projects or family services; all are enjoyed by our whole community.

Redmile School children have been frequent visitors to the church to discover more of their Christian heritage and for research for their various school topics. They have studied the artefacts in church, the history of the church and the church's contribution to village life.

Displays of the children's work have been regularly displayed, enhancing the children's worship and other cross-curricular projects.

Many of our school celebrations are well attended by parents, family, and friends from the local community as well as visitors from afar who have enjoyed the school’s performances: the music, the drama, the fun and predictable jokes! The commitment and enthusiasm, as well as their high levels of performance, are always well received and commended.

We promote services and events at the church via our weekly newsletter to parents and the school notice board. Families are encouraged to attend these services and are made very welcome. Children participate by reading passages from the Bible, joining in drama sketches, playing musical instruments and by saying prayers.

At this moment in time, we don't have a parish priest in our community so we are very fortunate to belong to an active partnership with our cluster schools. Rev David Cowie (Wymondham and Croxton) and Rev John Barr (Waltham-on-the-Wolds) support our school in many ways, for example they share details of services and special events, including early morning prayer and zoom courses; they lead worship for our school; and they offer support and guidance with R.E. and worship when we need someone to turn to. Rev David sits on our Vale Cluster Partnership Governing Body, too.
