Special Educational Needs and Disability SEND Information
At Redmile CE Primary School, we are committed to ensuring that every child is supported to achieve their full potential.
We recognise that all children learn differently and that many pupils may need additional support at some stage during their education. We celebrate the uniqueness of every child and work closely with families, the church and the wider community to nurture happy, aspirational, kind and responsible citizens.
Our inclusive approach ensures that children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) are fully supported and actively involved in all aspects of school life.
Our Approach to SEND
We follow the Special Educational Needs and Disability Code of Practice: 0–25 years (2014), ensuring that pupils with SEND receive the support they need to make the best possible progress.
Our school uses a graduated approach to SEND, focusing on:
- Early identification of needs
- Regular assessment and monitoring
- Personalised support plans
- Collaboration with parents and carers
- Appropriate interventions and specialist support
We carefully consider the individual needs of every pupil to ensure they can access the curriculum, participate fully in school life and achieve positive outcomes.
For more information, please refer to our SEND Policy below.
SEND Support and Interventions
We provide a personalised programme of support to meet the needs of all learners.
Our teachers and support staff deliver targeted interventions across a range of areas, including:
- Additional support in English and mathematics
- Speech, language and communication support
- Social, emotional and mental health support
- Gross and fine motor skills development
- Support for communication and interaction needs
We work closely with parents and carers throughout the year to help them support their child's learning at home. This may include workshops, guidance and resources related to phonics, maths, communication and language development.
We also signpost families to local services and support organisations where appropriate.
Specialist SEND Services
Where additional support is required, we work with a range of external professionals and specialist services, including:
- Educational Psychologists
- Speech and Language Therapists
- Occupational Therapists
- School Nursing Services
- CAMHS practitioners
- Autism and Early Years Intervention Team
- Behaviour Intervention Team
These partnerships enable us to provide tailored support and ensure the best possible outcomes for children with SEND.
SEND Leadership and Governance
Our Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENDCo) works closely with staff, families and external agencies to coordinate support across the school.

SEND Governor: Mrs Anna Butler

Admissions for Children with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP)
If your child has an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), the Local Authority will consult with the school before naming Redmile CE Primary School in the plan.
We carefully review each child's needs and work with the Local Authority to determine whether we can provide the appropriate support.
We strongly encourage families to visit the school and meet with our SENDCo to discuss their child's needs and explore whether our setting is the right fit.
Admissions for Children with SEND
If your child has additional needs or SEND but does not have an EHCP, applications should be made through the standard Local Authority admissions process.
We recommend contacting the school before applying so that we can discuss your child's needs and explain the support available.
