RISE Gymnastics
Mon 04 Mar 2024A fantastic morning was had by this group at the RISE Gymnastics event. A really great event that not only helps to build fundamental movement skills for life, but also children’s’ confidence to stand up and perform in front of others. Each child performed two Vaults, a Core Skills routine, and a Small Apparatus routine where they had the choice of using a ribbon or a ball. The change in format was very well received by the children, bringing more creativity and enthusiasm to the event as well as to the lunchtime practices leading up to it. We were nominated Spirit of the Games winners on the day for an outstanding piece of sportsmanship. A huge well done to all involved and a big thank you to Little Springers Gymnastics, a huge reason why the children love this event, to Melton & Belvoir School Sport and Physical Activity Network and to all the parents that helped with transport.

'A Night at the Movies' Concert
Fri 28 Jul 2023Rise Multi Academy Trust brings together children from 21 schools for ‘A Night at the Movies’ in collaboration with Leicestershire Schools Music Service (LSMS).
On Tuesday 27th June, Year 4 children from across 21 Leicestershire schools came together at The Venue, De Montfort University to perform a range of hit musical songs to celebrate equality, diversity and inclusion. The children had been practicing for the past few weeks individually before coming together on the day for the first time to rehearse and perform.
Pupils only had one singing workshop with the choral leads from Leicestershire Schools Music Service; Nicki Atkins and Emma Burns, who organised and prepared the esteemed event, before coming together to form a 400+ Rise Choir, performing on stage in front of delighted staff, friends and family.
The spectacular event, forms part of the Trust’s commitment to providing a Pupil Charter for every child – offering opportunities and experiences that enrich pupils’ learning throughout their time at primary school. A parent commented ‘I felt so proud to be part of the Rise family of schools! Thank you for giving the children that opportunity.’ Another commented ‘The children were phenomenal! I sat there in awe of what I was hearing... Certainly an experience I will never forget’
The trust's vision is for each pupil to flourish and succeed, and that is what they did as they sang 9 songs from movies including The Lion King, Moana and The Greatest Showman, accompanied by an exceptional live band. The children shared some of their academic achievements during the year through a moving slideshow.
Showcasing their sign language skills, a highlight of the night was the children's performance of ‘Colours of the Wind’ from Pocahontas in which they sang and signed using British Sign Language the chorus of the song. This was important to both children and staff to promote inclusivity and diversity, one of Rise’s main visions.
A member of staff from one of the schools also praised ‘They have had firsthand experience of what it means to belong to Rise. Their confidence has blossomed in so many ways’, with another staff member saying ‘the children shared a love of music and feeling of belonging in the Rise family.’
Thank you to the superb sponsors; ideal care homes, Hormann and Johnson Astills.
Mark Cole, CEO of Rise Multi Academy Trust said “In total we welcomed an audience of over 800 and were overwhelmed with the positive responses received. It was a powerful example of how, as a Trust family, we can work together to achieve many amazing things, creating memories that will last a lifetime for our pupils.”
Julie Hopkins, Executive Headteacher of the Trust's Vale of Belvoir schools and project lead for the occasion, said: “I am so proud of how the children embraced this opportunity to work together as one big Rise family. They sang beautifully and it was clear to see the powerful impact the experience had on them and the audience. Special thanks to the many teachers who worked so hard to prepare the children”.

Concert at Nottingham Albert Hall
Thu 07 Jul 2022Year 4 pupils from Redmile CE Primary School became part of a 350-strong choir when they joined their peers for Rise Multi Academy Trust’s (Rise MAT’s) first Pupil Choral Concert held at Nottingham’s Albert Hall.
The event, which brought together pupils from each of Rise MAT’s 19 schools, forms part of the Trust’s commitment to providing a Pupil Charter for every child – offering opportunities and experiences that enrich pupils’ learning throughout their time at primary school.
In a celebration of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, pupils were accompanied by a live band when they sang a host of songs that marked the decades of the Queen’s reign, as well as songs from the musicals in recognition of her fondness for the genre.
Julie Hopkins, Executive Headteacher of the Trust's Vale of Belvoir schools and project lead for the occasion, said: “All of the children sang so beautifully and confidently; their impeccable behaviour and passion shone through. It brought tears to our eyes when they dedicated ‘The Wind Beneath my Wings’ to their parents and teachers – it was one of those magical moments that everyone in attendance will remember.”
One parent attending the concert, added: “We wanted to say thank you for such an amazing evening. The children were absolutely incredible! My daughter loves singing and it was a phenomenal experience for her to be a part of.”
Pupils at each school practised the songs with their teachers and also benefited from a singing workshop which was run by Leicestershire Music’s choral lead, Nicki Atkins, who organised the arrangements of all the songs in preparation for the prestigious event. The children then came together to sing for the first time only a couple of hours before they performed.
Mark Cole, CEO of Rise Multi Academy Trust, said: “In total we welcomed almost 800 people to our Choral Concert, a gathering of pupils, parents, carers and staff members from across our Rise MAT family.
“It was a powerful example of how, as a Trust family, we can work together to achieve many amazing things, creating memories that will last a lifetime for our pupils.” -

Winning Girls Football Team
Wed 10 Nov 2021PRESS RELEASE
Redmile CE Primary school came out on top in the Melton & Belvoir Primary Schools Girls Football Tournament held at Asfordby Amateurs.
The year 5/6 competition saw 11 schools take part in the well-organised event. Redmile battled to a 0-0 draw in their opening group match against Bottesford before winning their remaining 3 matches to top the group, conceding just 1 goal. Next up were the semi-finals where they defeated Brownlow 1-0. The final saw an extremely tight re-match with Bottesford. Both teams gave their all but with the score line 0-0 after extra-time it was down to a penalty shootout to separate the two sides.
Redmiles’ ability to stay calm and resilient saw them across the finishing line. Redmile qualified to represent Melton & Belvoir at the Danone Schools Football Finals later in November.
Mrs Hopkins, Executive Head teacher, said “I am thrilled that our team has done so well; I am extremely proud of them and very grateful to all the organisers and sports teachers who have made this opportunity to compete possible. The covid pandemic put a complete halt to all competitive inter-school sports last year (except virtual ones!) so for our children to be getting out of school to participate in active sports once again with other schools is simply the best!”

Strictly Come Dancing Star Visits Redmile
Sun 26 Sep 2021Press release: Former Strictly star inspires pupils to keeeeep dancing!
As the new series of Strictly Come Dancing begins, lucky pupils from four village primary schools in the Vale of Belvoir have been inspired to ‘Keep dancing!’ by a former Strictly star.
Robin Windsor, a professional dancer who previously partnered with Deborah Meaden, Patsy Kensit and Lisa Reilly on the BBC One award-winning programme, has run a series of dance lessons this week for children at: Waltham-on-the-Wolds CE Primary School, Wymondham CE Primary School, Redmile CE Primary School and Croxton Kerrial CE Primary School. For the children who attend the schools, which are all part of the Rise Multi-Academy Trust, this was a unique opportunity to learn from an accomplished professional dancer, to enhance their passion for dancing and to keep active throughout their lives.
Robin Windsor, professional dancer and former Strictly Coming Dancing star, said: It has been an absolutely amazing couple of days. It's such a rewarding experience, because you get to see the children light up, they learn something new and their confidence builds throughout the day.
"I think dancing should be compulsory in schools, there are so many positive benefits!"Julie Hopkins, Executive Headteacher of all four schools, said: “The children were absolutely delighted to take part in a dance lesson with Robin. Many of them have watched Strictly Come Dancing over the years and some have gone to the arena tours, so to learn from one of the former professionals in person is just so thrilling for them.
“We already have a strong commitment to dance in our schools, as our specialist dance teacher, Cheryl Lobo, has been inspiring our children for many years. We are passionate about the many benefits to dancing; not only is it an incredible skill in its own right, but the fun and laughter is good for health and well-being. It promotes fitness and supports long-term memory, plus, it is a great opportunity to create lasting memories with friends and family.”

Just wanted to write and say thank you to everyone at Redmile school for the fete yesterday. It was such a lovely community event and so nice to see everyone enjoying themselves.
When we got back into the car, Henry said unprompted ‘that was really good, I really enjoyed it’ which pretty much sums up how we all felt.

I just wanted to drop you a quick message to say how much I enjoyed Redmile’s 150th Anniversary Summer Fair. It was such a delight to see so many families enjoying themselves on a beautiful evening alongside many from the local community.
The new Quiet Area looks absolutely amazing and it’s such a pity that Lindsey and Christian were unable to be there tonight to hear people’s very positive comments. It’s just brilliant!
The children’s enthusiasm in the dances made them such fun to watch and they were superb ambassadors for the school helping at all the stalls and games etc. I’m sure you felt very proud.
I know there’s always a lot of planning, preparation and work behind the scenes to make these occasions a success so a huge thanks to you and all your amazing staff and volunteers for making it a superb happy family event.
Thank you for all your hard work.
Best Wishes
Christine
Our chair of governors replied: Here here - loads of hard work made this a real special event.
Thank you.Richard

150th Anniversary Mural finished
Sat 28 Aug 2021Local artist Lindsay Thompson has finished her stunning mural on the wall of our school hall. She says:
"I was delighted when I was approached by Alison, the head teacher of Redmile Primary School to design and paint an exterior mural to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the school. Initially, I created a conceptual design and we soon agreed on the final concept and design and then the painting began. Wild animals were extremely important to the design, so a fox, a hare, red kites (which are locally found), a tawny owl and some smaller creatures starred in the piece. The Sun setting behind the unmistakable Redmile Spire during a warm summer's evening."
