Our Church Partnership

Redmile CE Primary School is proud of its close relationship with St Peter's Church, which has been at the heart of the village community for more than 800 years.
Built in the 12th century, St Peter's Church stands at the northern end of Redmile and forms part of the Vale of Belvoir Churches within the Diocese of Leicester and the Church of England.
As a Church of England primary school, our partnership with St Peter's Church plays an important role in supporting our Christian vision, values and collective worship.
Learning Beyond the Classroom
Children regularly visit St Peter's Church as part of their learning across the curriculum.
These visits help pupils develop a deeper understanding of Christianity, local history and the role of the church within the community.
Through school projects and educational visits, children explore:
- The history and heritage of St Peter's Church
- Christian beliefs and traditions
- Religious artefacts and symbols
- The role of the church in village life
- Local history and community connections
Pupils' work is often displayed within the church, celebrating their achievements and enriching collective worship and cross-curricular learning.
Celebrating Together
Throughout the year, we hold a range of services and celebrations at St Peter's Church, bringing together pupils, families and the wider community.
These special events are always well attended and provide opportunities for children to showcase their talents through music, drama, readings and prayer.
Families are warmly encouraged to attend church services and community events, which are shared through our weekly newsletter and school noticeboard.
Children actively participate by:
- Reading Bible passages
- Leading prayers
- Performing drama sketches
- Playing musical instruments
- Taking part in collective worship
These experiences help children develop confidence, creativity and a sense of belonging within our school and village community.
Working in Partnership
Although there is currently no parish priest based within the village, we benefit from strong support through our partnership with neighbouring churches and schools.
We are grateful for the ongoing support provided by Reverend David Cowie and Reverend John Barr, who contribute to school life in many ways.
They support our school by:
- Leading collective worship
- Sharing information about church services and special events
- Supporting religious education and spiritual development
- Offering guidance to staff and governors
- Providing opportunities for prayer and reflection

Reverend David Cowie also serves on the Vale Cluster Partnership Governing Body, helping to strengthen links between our schools and local church communities.
A Shared Vision
Our partnership with St Peter's Church enriches school life and helps us nurture children who are compassionate, respectful and reflective.
Together, we support pupils to develop a strong sense of community, an understanding of Christian values and a respect for people of all faiths and backgrounds.
